Stay Fresh, Stay Original, Be Stupid

par Charles Lapointe le 19 janvier 2010

We are seeing more and more new ways of thinking in new marketing and some are getting really interesting. One recent campaign that caught my eye in the past week is the new DIESEL campaign called, Be stupid. Basically they are promoting the Philosophy of being stupid.

Here is the video for the campaign, The Official Be Stupid Philosophy:

They are creating a whole new way of thinking and to be honest with you, I see the correlation. If you think about it for a second, we have already seen this kind of marketing push before, with Apple. Apple has always promoted their Mac products with their sweet tagline, Think Different. People have been thinking differently and are starting to like it.

Apple: Think Different

One of my beloved Twitter followers, Jackie NG replied to me this morning after I tweeted about the DIESEL campaign with a tweet about one of Steve Jobs’ speeches at the Stanford University and a famous quote that came out of it:

@charleslapointe Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. — Steve Jobs /http://ow.ly/Yb4R Tu connais, n’est-ce pas?

Never heard about it but the Ow.ly link directs you to the Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Address Video. Super interesting speech if your in need of some motivation.

These campaigns are signs of pure genius, determination, perseverance and targeted for people who feel like being different (or just follow the trend as it passes, in this case Apple for the last 10 years).

You can stay updated for sales happening at the DIESEL Store Montreal by subscribing here. You should follow them via Twitter too.

Here are just a few campaign banners that I picked out on their site (you can view all of them here):
